Davidson College
My name is Yara Quezada and I’ll be attending Davidson College.
I ranked it on my list and was then matched through Questbridge. I chose Davidson because I absolutely loved it after touring the school. Davidson College is one of the most underrated schools out there. It is in the top 10 ranking for liberal arts colleges and has an incredible 10:1 student to faculty ratio. Furthermore, it was the first liberal arts college to eliminate loans in financial aid packages and replace them with grants made possible by the Davidson Trust. Davidson is incredible not only because of the numbers, but because of the people.
Every single person I’ve ever encountered at Davidson was so nice, intelligent, and well spoken. The students love it there and are some of the most brilliant minds in the nation. They love their school and are extremely involved in not just their classes but in student organizations, volunteering, and the Davidson community.
The professors know all their students by name due to the small class sizes and truly care about them and their success. The school is known for their Honor Code which is unbelievable respected by all in the Davidson community. Students leave their laptops in the library for hours at a time, their bicycles unlocked, and are trusted by professors to the point of having self schedules exams without proctors. Most of all, I love how Davidson is the epitome of a cute little college town. If you walk on Main Street, you’ll see Davidson College flags everywhere and people walking their dogs and eating ice cream and wearing Davidson hats.
I’m so excited to be attending. I plan to major in either political science or public health. At Davidson, you can create your own major (another thing I love about the school) and so I may end up majoring in something completely different. The beauty of Davidson and the distribution requirements are that I will get to try a little of everything and find what I’m passionate about. I truly encourage anyone who is interested even a little in Davidson to reach out to me on Facebook and ask me more about it! I would love to talk! :)
