Due to the fact that it is unwise to expect an acceptance or a rejection from any college, your college list must include a good mix of schools.
Safety Schools
Your first set of schools should be considered your safeties. These schools have an acceptance rate of about 50% to above. These are the schools where you as an application are basically overqualified for and being handed a rejection from them is almost as unlikely as a seeing a pig fly. Most of the time, these are your public including state schools.
Target Schools
Your next set of schools are your target schools. These are schools were your credentials fit their averages and they more than likely have an acceptance rate between 30-50%.
Reach Schools
Your last set of schools are your reach schools. These schools usually have acceptance rates ranging from 1-30%. These are the schools whose average might be a little bit higher than what you have to offer.
