***Guidance should be taken lightly, relative to your specific school***
If you are going out-of-state: If you are traveling by airplane to get to your college (if you are traveling by car, see in-state advice below) you may want to see if you can purchase items when you get on campus. This is best for students who have a lot stuff to bring. If you plan to purchase items when you get on campus, map out where the nearest furniture or grocery stores are. If you do not have the option to buy items once you get on campus, ship items like bedding, furniture, electronics, kitchenware, and appliances. Items such as clothes, snacks, medicine and other smaller items should be fine to fit in your luggage.
If you are going to be saying in-state: There is no need to ship anything to your college, if you are staying in-state, you will likely travel by car to your destination, allowing you to carry more items and avoid those high-priced shipping costs. Also, you are more likely to be able to travel home with ease as opposed to an out-of-state student, so you are able to pickup extra items from your house to your college.
